Take a Walk!

Chattanooga has many opportunities for urban and scenic walks, but we also have a lot of room for progress. Learn where to walk safely while finding resources to help you become an advocate for more accessible sidewalks, greenways, and parks.

  • Pedestrian-friendly infrastructure in our neighborhoods makes for sociable communities, thriving local business, and healthier kids, adults, and seniors. A map of public and private sidewalks can be found here. Advocate for more sidewalks by contacting your City Council representative and report needed repairs by calling 311 or using the 311 app.

  • An incredible project that has grown for decades, the Riverwalk now connects downtown Chattanooga to Lookout Mountain to the south and the Chickamauga Dam to the north. The South Chickamauga Creek Greenway completed in 2022 joins this system with 13 additional miles connecting to East Ridge.

  • There’s no shortage of lovely hikes within the city limits or on our neighboring mountains (Lookout, Signal, and Raccoon). Great lists of nearby trails can be found from Outdoor Chattanooga and Roots Rated.

Your new favorite trail awaits.
